Chloroquine Retinopathy

Retinal degeneration caused by prolonged use of chloroquine, an oral medication employed for relief of arthritic symptoms, is the most important of the toxic diseases affecting the pigmented layer of the retina (the RPE). The bull’s eye pattern, as seen in the accompanying photographs, develops in the more severe, visually-crippling cases.
